Speaker & Bio: Rachel G. French, EPDH, Community Dental Hygienist


Rachel French is an Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist that provides dental services across several community locales. These include hygiene services in clinics, sealant programs in elementary school settings, screenings/education with 0–5-year-old children and families at Head Start and WIC locations.

She received a B.S. in Dental Hygiene from Pacific University, Hillsboro OR. This program influenced the public health lens with which Rachel continues to practice. She has been employed with Neighborhood Health Center (NHC) since 2014. Neighborhood Health Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the healthcare needs of Medicaid, Medicare, uninsured, underserved, and at-risk patients in Washington and Clackamas Counties in the Portland metro area. Through NHC she collaborates with community partners to offer quality healthcare services.

Rachel French has been married for over 20 years and has two adult children. She enjoys teaching yoga and spending time with family.

Aging adults are keeping their teeth longer than past generations.  Many diseases and conditions experienced by aging adults (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, physical and cognitive disabilities) impact an individual’s ability to maintain their own oral health, freedom from oral pain, and the ability to eat and socialize comfortably.  This presentation will help you understand the connections between aging and oral disease risk factors and provide practical recommendations for helping aging adults maintain good oral health and their quality of life!
